The US and Iran have reached a peace deal to end their three-and-a-half-month-old war. US President Donald Trump made the announcement Sunday evening, June 14. The Strait of Hormuz, which carries 20% of the worlds oil, is set to reopen on Friday, June 19, when a deal is signed in Switzerland, officials said. The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete, Trump wrote on Truth Social. Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. The signing will launch a 60-day negotiating process to determine the fate of Irans nuclear program and the extent of sanctions relief, according to officials.
