A 29-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly r@ping an 89-year-old woman in South Africa. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026 in Nyavani village, outside Malamulele in Limpopo. Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says the suspect entered the victims room while she was asleep and allegedly attacked her after she told him she had no money. The suspect reportedly fell asleep after the incident, allowing the victim to call for help. He was later arrested and is currently under police guard in hospital after being assaulted by community members. Provincial Commissioner Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrest but warned against mob justice. The suspect is expected to appear in the Malamulele Magistrates Court soon.
