A London court has awarded compensation to Chloe Caillet after she was injured by falling brickwork outside a caf in north-west London. The DJ was struck outside the Kipferl Caf when a section of brick cornice suddenly fell from a building owned by OHare Holdings Ltd. She suffered injuries to her neck, shoulder, back, and foot, along with bruising and psychological effects including anxiety and sleep disturbance.During the case, the court heard that Caillet narrowly avoided more serious injury because she was leaning forward looking at her phone at the time, meaning the debris missed her head. She initially sought nearly 100,000 in damages, claiming the incident left her unable to work for six months. However, the defence challenged this, pointing to social media evidence showing her attending events across locations such as New York and Nevada during that period.Caillet argued she was only undertaking limited or passive work rather than performing at her usual level. Recorder Karl King ultimately found that while she had ongoing symptoms, she had returned to some level of work after around three months. The court rejected claims that she had been dishonest, but also declined to award the full amount sought for lost earnings. Instead, she was granted approximately 14,000 in compensation for her injuries and treatment costs. In addition, OHare Holdings was ordered to pay around 75,000 towards her legal costs, bringing the total payout to roughly 90,000. The judge concluded that while her injuries were genuine, they did not fully prevent her from working for the entire six-month period she had claimed. The post DJ hit by falling bricks outside UK cafe wins 90k payout appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
