The United States Mission in Nigeria has cautioned that visa overstays by Nigerian travellers could impact other citizens applying to enter the U.S. In an advisory issued on Monday, the mission stressed that compliance with U.S. immigration laws is critical to preserving travel opportunities for Nigerians visiting for education, business, tourism, and family purposes. It noted that when travellers overstay their visas or breach entry conditions, it can affect how future applications from the same country are assessed. Visa overstays by Nigerian travellers can affect opportunities for their fellow citizens, the mission said. Strengthening compliance helps protect access for students, business travellers, and families who travel responsibly.
