A woman who recently shared how she relocated from the UK back to Nigeria has now cried out over the cost of living in Nigeria. Nkemdilim Melissa Okani took to Facebook to state that it’s been 10 months since she moved back to Nigeria and the cost of living has hit her. She wrote: I moved back to Nigeria from the UK 10 months ago, and for the first time, the cost of living has really hit me! “What do you mean prices are not regulated? So many factors can affect the cost of goods, and people just move on like its normal. “When I first arrived, I was filling my car tank weekly for 50,000. Now? Im spending 85,000 every single week on fuel! Yes, you heard me right, #85k weekly. Its ridiculous! “I used to buy a basket of tomatoes for 3,000. Now it goes for as much as 13,000. I bought one yesterday for 9,000 after plenty begging and negotiation. “Shombo was 2,500. Today, they told me 17,000! I didnt even bother buying it because I was so annoyed. How can something I bought for 7,000 just last week suddenly become 17,000 this week? How na? “Eggs used to be 5,000; now theyre 6,500. A kilogram of beef used to be 7,000; now its 8,500. A carton of turkey was 90,000; now its 110,000, and thats after plenty abeg o! “Ah! Ive been so angry this morning. “Im always a little ashamed to talk about my monthly expenses because it makes me feel like Im not managing my money well. Sometimes, I look at what were spending and wonder where all the money is going. But with the way prices keep increasing, even a carefully planned budget can quickly go out the window. “So please tell me, how are people genuinely coping in this economy?” The post Woman who relocated from UK to Nigeria laments over cost of living appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
