Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo has sentenced a 50-year-old man, Ime Edet Akpan, to 21 years imprisonment for r@ping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl. Akpan was convicted and sentenced on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Journalist and judiciary reporter, Harrison Essien, who disclosed this on Facebook said the convict, a married father of five, committed the act in his side chick’s compound in Nung Udoe, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of the sate. According to the journalist, Akpan, a keke operator from Akamba Nsukara Offot in Uyo Local Government Area of the State, went to visit his side chick and met her absence and decided to pounce on the minor while she was bathing. I held her and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her and there was nobody in the compound, now that she is pregnant, I will take care of her until she put to birth,” the convict said in court.
