The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 60-year-old man for def!ling a 9-year-old girl in Toro Local Government Area othe state. The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, 14th May, 2026 said the case was reported at the police by the victim’s father. According to the PPRO, the complainant alleged that his daughter was lured into a hideout and r@ped by the suspect on May 7, 2026. Detectives attached to the division swiftly arrested the suspect following the complaint. The suspect voluntarily confessed to the offence during interrogation and further admitted to committing similar acts against the victim on several occasions at different locations. Habib further disclosed that during the course of investigation, the victim alleged that another suspect identified only as Nafiu, was involved in a separate incident concerning her. Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 60-year-old man for the alleged defilement of a 9-year-old girl in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area, the statement read. “According to a report received at the Toro Division on 8th May 2026 at about 0930hrs, the father of the victim, who is 47years old, reported that his daughter, was lured into a hideout on 7th May 2026 at about 1600hrs by one Musa Garba, also of the same address. “The suspect was promptly apprehended by detectives from the Division following the report. “During interrogation, he voluntarily confessed to the offence. He further disclosed that he had previously committed similar acts against the victim on multiple occasions at different locations. “Both the victim and the suspect were taken to the General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination and attention. “In the course of the investigation, the victim also alleged that another suspect identified only as Nafiu, surname yet unknown, of the same address, is currently at large in connection with a separate incident involving her. “The arrested suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and prosecution. “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect. “The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), condemned the act in strong terms and reaffirmed the Commands zero-tolerance stance on crimes against children and S3xual and Gender-Based Violence. “He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Police promptly.
